Charity: Common Threads Family Resource Center

Jackie Moen has been an astonishing inspiration of what is possible when you dream of better things and make them happen. As the mother of two children with Autism, Jackie spent a great deal of time with various therapists and would talk about the “what ifs” …what if there were a school where children with autism would not only be accepted and loved but given the therapies unique to them in a calm and serene environment but structured as a school setting? What if we could not only wrap up these children in the warm embrace of acceptance but also the Families and siblings who are living each day with such difficulties and provide them with Respite services and counseling? What if we could break down the barriers and get through to these children and make real and lasting differences in their lives? So through hard work, long hours, sheer determination and an unfailing belief in the goodness of people, Jackie took her dream and made it a reality. In October, she and her team of dedicated Therapists opened Common Threads, an amazing non-profit school for children with Autism serving the Madison area. She is a tireless advocate for these children and I know I speak for myself and hopefully many others when I say that Jackie Moen inspires us all to be better human beings.
